     The Dominican Republic’s tourist hot spot, Punta Cana, sits on the easternmost tip of the eastern part of the island of Hispanola.  Originally called Punta Borrachón (Drunkard's Point), Punta Cana has become the most recognized name in the resort world with the second busiest airport - renowned for its innovative and eco-friendly design - in the Caribbean. Located in the province of La Altagracia, the resort and real estate community's pure, white, sandy beaches, clear blue water, tropical breezes, and swaying palm trees draws visitors from around the globe.

     It’s been said that a villa has to be a loyal reflection of one’s personality. In the case of DR300, we find ourselves peering through a window into the lives of an adventurous couple, sea and navigation lovers, seeking to create their own special enclave in Punta Cana.  The owners knew right from the start when choosing the architect and interior designer that they wanted to build a sanctuary reflecting all their travels and showcasing their memoirs, where they could recapture their memories from all corners of the world.

     The task was not easy, yet fun.  “With this background as inspiration, I was able to unleash my imagination, but at the same time keeping a coherent design, which had to unify and captivate elegantly the villa’s spirit.  I wanted to reflect joy, since this is a vacation home and fantasy”, tells the villa's interior designer.  She achieved it!  This residence radiates adventures, unforgettable memories, travel experiences, color, and joy.  The spectacular interior patio grasps the tropical nature, with its palm trees and leafy vegetation. The villa's open spaces let the exuberant tropical green prevail -  tones which are repeated in the interiors . . . as part of wall finishings, cushions, fabrics, and embroideries. 

     What catches attention most is that each room in this magnificent villa has a distinctive personality according to a different destination or theme. The only asset that rings throughout is the love and care with which every single detail was chosen.  Each unique aspect reflects a certain passion of the owners.  For example, in the middle of the Master Bedroom, there is a giant saltwater aquarium that is home to a variety of colorful fish and coral that represent the owners' love of sea life.

     Another bedroom is dedicated to the couple’s trips to Asia, which they remember with love and enthusiasm.  “In front of a wall with an unusual black technique and the others with a vibrant red, the modern beds with straight lines and lacquered in red surprises us with their dramatism, highlighted by the original colorful masks, part the owners' collection.  An ancient door unfolds like art, the mirror frame of thick bamboo and the Teka banquettes remind us of materials from other latitudes, but as tropical as ours”, tells the interior designer.

     In the African Suite and the Dominican Suite, each piece was meticulously selected.  For the Dominican Suite, the owners wanted to bestow it with the beautiful local craftworks, and decorate it with chairs painted by hand. Caribbean collectible paintings were carefully chosen, such as La Virgen de la Altagracia (patroness of the neighboring Higuey). Without a doubt, this bedroom represents the typical “Criollo” (referring to authentic pre-colonial Spanish) style.

     With this wonderful challenge before her, the interior designer let her imagination fly free and the result is this extraordinary villa.  She had the talent to combine all the details and collectible pieces provided by the owners in perfect harmony, and brought life to the villa giving it meaning and a purpose where guests will appreciate the joy which exudes from this amazing place.
