     SM101 was one of the first villas we offered for rent on SInt Maarten, and we became fast friends with the former homeowners who welcomed us to stay with or without them in this extraordinary vacation residence.  As a result, we have first-hand knowledge of this lavish accommodation speaking from personal experience.

 

     SM101 is a magnificent six (6) bedroom, 6½ bathroom luxury villa located high up on the verdant hillside between Oyster Pond and Dawn Beach.  This thoughtfully-planned house, which recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, has a commanding vista of Dawn Beach, Oyster Pond and the Atlantic Ocean plus three (3) neighboring islands (!)– truly one of the best panoramas on the Island. 

 

     The home’s spacious and airy rooms offer a superbly relaxing atmosphere for a large group or one or two families.  The villa is also ideal (and priced accordingly) as a two/three/four/five bedroom rental property for several couples or friends traveling together.  No matter where you are in this house, you can take in the sweeping eye candy of the turquoise blue water below through numerous sliding glass doors and floor-to-ceiling windows.  We love that there is very little distinction between indoors and out. 

 

     A pristine, modern vacation residence, SM101 boasts an expansive open plan on the upper (entry) level.  This floor comprises an air-conditioned living area, dining area, state-of-the-art kitchen, and the two Master Suites.

     The contemporary décor in the living/dining sections of the Main House includes bright white furnishings and glass top tables complemented by exquisite artwork and sculptures.  A desk in one corner provides a comfortable spot for those who must catch up on work during their stay.  While the common areas are air-conditioned (which is rare in the Caribbean), as an alternative to air conditioning there are ceiling fans which augment the delightful breezes coming through the sliding glass doors during a good part of the year.

 

     The villa's immaculate, fully-equipped kitchen - with its high-end appliances (including an ice machine), quartz countertops, TV and sleek, modern cabinetry - is a chef's dream, appointed with all manner of dinner and cookware suitable for entertaining.  In the kitchen, there is a table for four near the window and seating for six along the island.  Five additional outdoor tables and chairs are found under the covered terrace and poolside.

     Two Master Suites (king-size beds) are located on the upper level and spill onto the wrap-around balcony.  Three Guest Bedrooms (2 kings and 1 queen) are located on the lower level and open onto their own terrace.  All the bedrooms are air-conditioned and are outfitted with a telephone, TV with DVD player and DVD library (200+), Sony PlayStation, Avov (streaming), and en suite bathroom with shower and soaking tub.

 

     The second/lower level of the villa is the location of Guest Bedrooms #s 1 (king-size bed), 2 (queen-size bed) and 3 (king-size bed).  All of the Guest Bedrooms in the Main House are air-conditioned and have a ceiling fan, bath en suite (shower), terrace, cable TV, Sony PlayStation and Avov (streaming).   

 

     Guest Bedroom #6 (queen-size bed) is contained in separate living quarters behind the Main House.  This air-conditioned Apartment, which is perfect for the in-laws or a nanny, has a private entrance and features a bedroom (queen-size bed, TV), bathroom, small living area (TV), and kitchen.  There is a nice view from the living room. 

 

      A private swimming pool and heated Jacuzzi take full advantage of the exceptional panorama this home enjoys.  SM101 also has a well-appointed, personal fitness room on the lower level.

 

     Other amenities include electronic security gates, stereo with CD player, fax machine, gas BBQ, free satellite Internet access, and Sony PlayStations.  The caretaker lives in a garage apartment, separate from the Main House and Guest Apartment.

     Beautiful Dawn Beach is only a five-minute drive down the hill - a prime spot for swimming, snorkeling, and other watersports.  Guests can delight in day sails to nearby islands, scuba diving, boating, fishing, shopping, casinos and the best dining in the Caribbean.

 

     The villa is located only 15 minutes drive from Philipsburg (Dutch side Capital), about 30 minutes drive to Marigot (French side Capital), and 20 minutes to the quaint seaside village of Grande Case for an outstanding selection of gourmet restaurants and the famous "lolos" (grill stands).
